SPIREC
Multi-level supervision and prediction for geo-distributed and heterogeneous infrastructures in the Cloud/Edge/IoT continuum

Mission and Keywords
Define methods, by using distributed machine learning in particular, to enable their efficient management, provide means of securing them, and ensure a variety of QoS properties.

Context and Aims
Today, the cloud is the main infrastructure on which the world’s largest distributed applications are built. New requirements are emerging for computing and storage capacities at the edge, and for the many Internet of Things (IoT) devices in smart cities, industries, and vehicular networks.
The resulting Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum is characterized by highly heterogeneous infrastructures and multi-layered applications. To ensure service quality and security, the SPIREC project focuses on three primary aims:
• Continuum Monitoring: Observing heterogeneous services and software stacks.
• Anomaly Detection: Detecting runtime execution failures.
• Resource Prediction: Forecasting resource utilization using artificial intelligence.
The partners develop software components and tools to integrate these functionalities into existing infrastructures and future software ecosystems like SLICES.
